Fartacus is a nickname created for Jared, by Jared. It is in reference to his propensity to be gassy. While this condition had featured in the gag reels for Seasons 2, 3 and 4, it was at the Salute to Supernatural Vancouver 2009 that this nickname was first shared with the public.

Dean mentions Sam's propensity for being gassy in 4.06 Yellow Fever while he was suffering from Ghost Sickness.
