History

Elizabeth Duren was the daughter of George and Vanessa Duren and a student at Edison Elementary school. In May 2001, Matthew Hammond backed out of his driveway and ran over his neighbor, ten-year-old Elizabeth Duren, while drunk. Elizabeth died instantly. A memorial fund was set up in her name to provide college funds for needy children.

Elizabeth's killer, Matthew was never reprimanded for her death. He recovered from his alcoholism and sent flowers to her grave once a month for the next 10 years. He was eventually put on trial by Osiris who sentenced him to death for his guilt.
