History
In 2006, Duke was summoned by Gunnar Lawless who was desperate to win a wrestling championship title. To this end, he made a deal with Duke who gave him ten years in exchange for his championship title. As per their deal, Gunnar won the title, but ended up losing it to another wrestler a week later. In 2016, both the Darkness and Lucifer returned, and Duke felt that it was "every demon for themselves" so he decided to collect souls for his own "nest egg." Instead of collecting Gunnar's soul, he offered to call the hellhounds off of him if he helped him. Desperate to avoid Hell, Gunnar accepted Duke's offer. Gunnar began murdering people in each town his wrestling tour landed in, carving an ancient Sumerian symbol into their chests so that Duke could collect their souls.

11.15 Beyond the Mat
While giving Gunnar the name of his next target, Duke is spotted by Shawn Harley who thinks he's Gunnar's drug dealer. Duke later has Gunnar kidnap Harley so Duke can offer him the chance to work for him. Harley refuses, knowing if demons are real, then so is Heaven and he doesn't want to give up his chance to go there. Duke slices Harley's Achilles tendon and then has the reluctant Gunnar murder him.
Duke's activities draw the attention of Sam and Dean Winchester who track down Gunnar and confront him. Duke appears and flings them into a wall before sending Gunnar to kill Dean while he deals with Sam. As Duke taunts Sam and prepares to kill him, Dean returns and tries to attack Duke who flings him away. Unknown to Duke, Dean has convinced Gunnar to help him and it's a distraction. As Duke is laughing about his victory over the Winchesters, Gunnar comes up behind him and stabs Duke through the back with the demon-killing knife, killing the rogue crossroads demon. Moments after Duke's death, the hellhounds come for Gunnar, no longer held back by their master.
