I wanna give you two something. My Dad... he, uh... Kept a hunter's journal, looked just like this. I lived my whole life by that damn thing. Well, this is my hunter's journal. So, if you're going to stay in this game... This will help guide you through it.

Dean Winchester, 1.13 Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye

Dean Winchester at some point, made his own hunter's journal, similar to his father's. Dean's journal is similar in style to John's but is bound in black leather.

Dean later gives his journal to the John Winchester and Mary Campbell of an alternate universe along with the Colt, to guide them as John's Journal had guided him.

The Winchesters Episodes

Dean writes in his journal about the Akrida before driving off in the Impala.

1.13 Hey, That’s No Way to Say Goodbye

Joan Hopkins provided John and Mary with the journal as all that's left of Dean after she threw him and the Impala into a portal that would tear them to pieces. Later, Mary, Latika Dar and Millie feed the journal to the Ostium in an attempt to bring Dean back. Instead, they bring back the Impala which appears nearby.

After the defeat of the Akrida, Dean gives John and Mary his journal to help guide them through hunting as John's Journal did for him along with the Colt and a warning about Azazel. John and Mary bring it with them as they set out to figure out their future together. Having read some of the journal, Mary quotes Dean to John that "driver picks the music, shotgun shuts their cakehole," something that Dean was very specific on.
